A visit to Bulgarian capital gives the possibility to meet the creation of an unknown talented medieval artist, who preceded with a century and a half the Italian Renaissance. Canonical, but vital, absorbed with the beyond visible, the realistic faces and figures of hundreds saints and martyrs on the walls of this small church, radiate joy and beauty.
The Church of Boyana stays at the foot of Vitosha Mountain (about 10 km from the center of Sofia)- and in the UNESCO’s list of the World cultural heritage.
A short trip (another 10 km. away from Boyana Church, could lead us to Dragalevtsi Monastery – founded in the first half of 14-th century it is functioning untill now nunnery. The road goes up to the mountain, providing views of Sofia, situated on the plane bellow. On the road back you can drop in a beautifully situated near a mountain stream national-style restaurant “Watermill”
